Energy Switch Spain We recently came across something interesting that could save people who live in Spain, or own property or even rent property in Spain, a great deal of money In June 2009 the Spanish Government de-regulated electricity thus opening the door to consumers choosing a different energy supplier to their current one (most consumers in Spain have been with Endesa for years) to another electricity provider who offer a lower tariff. There is now fierce competition in Spain to provide electricity at a lower price than Endesa.  There are also a number of companies that have signed agreements with suppliers to bring them new customers and switch them to a lower electricity tariff. One company we came across and have extensive information of is a Sales and Marketing Organisation based in Gibraltar called Energy Switch Spain who have tied up with a Energy Broker and are offering savings of between 5% and 28%. Most businesses on a 3.0 tariff could save the full 28% on their monthly bills but the company guarantee a minimum of 20%.  Domestic consumers will most likely be on a 2.0, 2.0a, 2.1dhl and 2.1a tariff and will attract less of a saving, but over the course of a year that saving could run into hundreds of Euros. The beauty of the scheme is that switching costs nothing as the sales and marketing agents are paid by the energy broker.  The consumer pays nothing and makes all the savings. There are bound to people out there who will set up a scam company and try and take a fee to switch but our advice is: IT IS FREE TO SWITCH AND IF ANYONE CHARGES A FEE AT ANY STAGE, AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE. The Spanish Government have not been forced to enforce the 2009 de- regulation by the EU.  Hence Endesa have been able to still surcharge higher electricity prices than the free market companies established in the Spanish market since 2009 who don’t charge the higher fee.  In March 2012 the EU will be debating a new law that will force the Spanish Government and other countries to enforce de-regulation and to do away with the TUR surcharge placed on most Endesa bills.  If this law go through the free market companies will still abide by their contracts with customers and give the guaranteed discounts below the total Endesa bills charged from March 2012. According to our information some 95% of Spanish Electricity Consumers are with Endesa and their charges are incredibly high, in fact we wonder how this dinosaur continues to get away with it, what with estimated readings, and if you are fortunate, you might get your meter read a couple of times a year, we welcome the emergence of the Free Market Companies in Spain that will allow consumers choose a cheaper supplier. We are currently compiling a list of the Free Market Companies and will add it to this page once completed. So watch this space. Even if the EU parliament enact the new laws in March 2012, it is to be expected that the Spanish Government may not implement it as they are raking in millions if not more, euros annually through Endesa.  We think it is time for people to shop around and get the best deal they can. Scambusters hate scams of any kind, and when a Government like Spain rips of their own people to the level they have, they deserve to be exposed.  We have done that with Timeshare, Carbon Credits and now, Energy.  Next year when Water is de-regulated, it will be the same.  Our information is that cheaper suppliers will be able to offer better rates than the official sources. We suggest you visit the website of Energy Switch Spain and find out more and how to switch by visiting their website www.energyswitchspain.com Do you want to reduce your Spanish Electricity Bills by up to 28% a month?
