What it is quite frankly, is a scam perpetrated by banks on their customers for years. Now they have capitulated and withdrawn their appeal against the ruling of the court, the banks are scrabbling to set aside £Billions to repay the millions of people who will no doubt be making claims, the UK financial ombudsman’s office has received over 250,000 claims in the first few months of 2011 alone. What a lot of people don’t know is that PPI did not even apply to people in some jurisdictions and no matter whether they checked a box for the insurance or not, it was MISSOLD because the insurance did not cover them. Thousands of card holders would have been paying for an insurance policy for years without ever realising that, in fact, THEY WERE NOT COVERED ANYWAY and the banks were collecting premiums for an insurance that would never pay out. If you live in Gibraltar and had or have a credit card and PPI applies to you, as long as your receiving address was a Gibraltar address, you may have a claim. Most of these companies charge 25% + VAT of any monies they recover. The Financial Services Ombudsman in the UK has warned about dealing with these companies as the FSO is the only body who can approve a claim or not and all claims go through them anyway, so if you want to save yourself a significant part of your claim, contact us for further details. The Financial Ombudsman’s Office make no charges for the service they carry out on your behalf. One other interesting piece of useful information is that the Ombudsman told one of our claimants that in addition to your money back, offending banks have been ordered to add 8% interests over the period of the claim to be added to the value of your claim.
